I got polio back in 1955, just before the vaccine came out. Lucky for me it only affected my back with 50% nerve damage. But I have have spent a life time of back pain and eventually back surgery a few years ago. I only wish the vaccine had come out earlier.

I was born just after the vaccine became available. At the other end, I turned 18 just before they ended the draft. So I should count my blessings for fortunate timing
