They're also going to turn it around and put it back in the communities. I've weathered (pun intended) several hurricanes in NW FL, and after every one, Publix had trucked out bottled water and ice from the Jacksonville distribution center and was giving it away. This was before they had a retail presence in the area.

I agree Publix is great.. Been a customer since 1961..
My best friend’s mom worked as a cashier at Publix most of her life and put two kids through college and bought a vette upon retirement, and the stock she was given/earned over the years paid off her house. And Publix always gives free stuff to non profits like scouts, or even birthday cakes to veterans in assisted living or nursing homes. It’s the best of the family/employee owned companies around.
