Yeah, I have many contacts in both industries (coal and renewables). I can tell you with absolute certainty that half (if not much more) of coal families do NOT support renewables, and work to prevent new wind and solar farms... and they hate the Green new Deal even more. They see both as their families going bankrupt and losing their homes.

(Most of my friends in wind and solar are actually pro-coal, as well... it doesn't have to be a competition for existence, both are needed, both help diversify our resources, and both help keep energy plentiful and cheap.... and NOBODY is pro-GreenNewDeal.)
