"Epstein died of a suspected suicide after being found unresponsive"

It says he was "unresponsive", but I haven't yet read that they found him with an item of clothing, sheet, blanket, etc., still around his neck. Did they have to cut him down, and did they immediately remove whatever he hung himself with, and check for vital signs? Correctional Officers are taught First Aid and CRP...and how to use a portable defibrillator. The training is required yearly, at least when I worked for New York State it was.

"In addition, every 15 minutes guards are required to make another check on prisoners who are on suicide watch...”

I'd question this statement. In NY State prison system, when an inmate was placed on suicide watch, there was an officer seated outside his stripped cell 24/7 until he was either sent to a psych center for outside evaluation, he was transferred to another facility, or he was returned to population. The officer would have the inmate in his view the full time, and he would have to keep a log of every move the inmate made inside the cell. If the officer needed to use the bathroom, or wanted to have a bite to eat, another officer would relieve him during that time. Personally, I can't imagine them doing it any differently in Federal facilities.
