The United States is considering withdrawing some of the US troops stationed in Germany, with Poland mooted as a possible new deployment, the US ambassador to Germany has said.
The threat of withdrawal comes amid ongoing differences between Berlin and Washington over Germanys contribution to NATO and a current spat caused by the German refusal to take part in a US-led naval mission in the Persian Gulf.
It is actually offensive to assume that the US taxpayer must continue to pay to have 50,000-plus Americans in Germany, but the Germans get to spend their surplus on domestic programs, US Ambassador Richard Grenell told the DPA news agency, in comments carried widely by German media on Friday.
His remarks come after the US ambassador to Poland, Georgette Mosbacher, tweeted that her country would be happy for the American troops in Germany to move there instead.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a US soldier in Berlin.
Check Point Charlie still has a few stamping passports.
Trump is CIC, not Congress.
Fine with getting out of Germany, but bring them home. Don’t just send them to some other foreign country. And while we are at it bring all American Forces home.
If we aren’t going to bring them home then turn them loose to actually defeat any stated enemy.
Bring them all home. We will lose Landstuhl hospital but that will be ok.
Doing that is what the EU wants, so they can go through with their militaristic ambitions.
Tried to find a picture of US soldiers I took at Check Point Charlie last year but it is too much to look through so here is something:

Pretty sure Congress has no say on redeployment of troops.
The President is the Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces, not Congress.
I think the only reason we have bases still in Europe is to provide flag officer billets. So, we should also think about reducing the number of generals and admirals. In WW2 the US Army had one general for every 10,000 soldiers. Today the army has seven generals for every 10,000 soldiers.
Amis. Plural of Ami.
Germany has no need for a military. Nobody threatens them except moslems and they love them. Other than that Germany and the EU is an aggressive expansionist empire. Our troops there should only be where they are good for US, with no regard for EU needs.
If the EU takes their own defense seriously, then they would overtly be aggressive towards the USA. The EU at its core is based on anti-Americanism; the concept dates back to Kaiser Wilhelm II who wanted “a United States of Europe against America”.
pull em out and fire all the German civilians working on the bases
... aaaaaaaand the takeover of Europe by the Germans (via the EU) is complete. 3rd time was the charm! Problem is, the takeover of Germany by the Muslims is also near completion.
They expect us to do their protection while at the same time they buy Russian gas. That money goes to building the Russian military industrial complex. Can't wait until the troops move the Poland and that cash goes to someone who is a friend to America.
After the US leaves, maybe paying for their own socialist programs will give Germany a Brexit understanding of life.
When will the US withdraw the occupation troops from the Confederacy?
Lots of Germans working at our bases. And the local merchants and cities profit from our presence. When I was stationed at the US Mission in Berlin in the 1980s, we were the third largest employer in Berlin.
