How does “mental” illness differ from “spiritual” illness?
I say the two are very closely linked. Inseparable.
Exactly, hello Gulag Archipelago...
And to that, I agree.
Yes.
Physical, mental, and spiritual health are all connected together.
The very odd time I am in a discussion about boys thinking they’re girls and girls thinking they’re boys, I ask, “Where do you think the problem lies? Do these people have mental/spiritual/psychological issues, or did God screw up?”
“I opted out the last time I wanted some counseling during a rough patch. Never again...”
I think conversations with a tribal elder would do a person a lot more good.
____________
LOL
We need to talk.
“I was listening to Dr. Lauras satellite radio show and she claims that radical feminists have basically hijacked the curriculum at any institution where one might train to become a therapist...They might conclude that being a straight male is a form of mental illness, and then they come for your guns...Like everything else in this country mental health has been thoroughly, utterly politicized.”
I see the ‘medical profession’ TOTALLY DIFFERENT than I saw them even a generation ago. Back then, when I was being an asshole and a dick, my mom would say exactly that to my pediatrician. His response: “Hang in there and don’t worry, he’ll grow up to be a doctor”. He was damn close. Today, the file will be sent in, and I’d be marked for life.
Point is TRUST NO ONE, even be careful with parents and in-laws when it comes to your kids. And NEVER, EVER, trust anyone directly funded by the government (as in schools or other social services). It is always best to simply KEEP YOUR KIDS CLEAR, or at least minimize any interaction they have.
And yes, now even pediatricians - think hard, VERY HARD, before confiding them - you may well wind up regretting it.
Suffering from moderate depression I find the idea that mental illness is the cause rather insulting. I think it is the quick and easy fall back position when we don’t understand evil.
Maybe... LOL
I don’t trust Tribal Elders either.
Smile...
I’m not against that point.
I do think it was foolish to put in a punitive measure, so that aware people would refrain from seeking reasoned counseling.
A thoughtful post.
“I do think it was foolish to put in a punitive measure, so that aware people would refrain from seeking reasoned counseling.”
Of all the head shrinkers in America, how many do you suppose voted for someone other than Felonia or Bernie?
Six? Seven?
Who could an aware person go to for reasoned counseling?
