You might be surprised how many posters on forums are, in fact, remunerated for same. Not saying they are. Just something to keep in mind.
Read "The Smear" by Sharyl Attkisson to learn just how widespread of that stuff is. I thought I was already pretty cynical about all forms of media but her book really gave me an education.
