Good insight to mention “fiction.”
We should remember that in the late 1960s and early 1970s the “New Journalists” started making up fiction including what they imagined the people thought or what they did away from the scenes of the proven facts, in their nonfiction.
Norman Mailer, Truman Capote, Jimmy Breslin and Tom Wolfe wrote articles and then books like “Of a Fire on the Moon” and The Right Stuff which added the novelistic thoughts to the actual nonfiction.
Dangerous when simple minded writers of 2019 believe their personal biases make them qualified to write slander about conservatives based on phony “someone connected with the incident said to others...” and away they go.
It’s a crazy world.
Few real facts and everything needs to be closely and thoroughly parsed.
