In one photo he’s wearing a vest that says “Against The Gods” on it in sort of gothic script. Does anyone know what that refers to? Otherwise just looks like a basic white kid. He’s employed while in community college. No manifesto that I’ve seen. Good shot by law enforcement saved many lives.

A synopsis of "Against the Gods": "Hunted for possessing a heaven-defying object, Yun Che is a young man in both that life and the next. Throwing himself off a cliff to spite his pursuers, Yun Che is reincarnated as Xiao Che, a recently poisoned teen in another realm. Just as hated in this life as the previous one, Che must overcome his own hostile clan, his own inability to cultivate, and his own frosty fiancée."
Maybe Betts was a nerd who took this stuff too seriously, and tried to live it out in the real world. Maybe he had a persecution complex, or was picked-on in school, and tried to become somebody through acting out a murderous fantasy.

Otherwise just looks like a basic white kid. Yeah, he doesn't come across as a total loser incel who's never kissed a girl like yesterday's shooter.

Some Japanese Manga. That, or a book on risk by Peter Bernstein. I’m thinking the former...
