That's true, but Ilhan Oman isn't worried about the non-whites. But, as terrible as these mass shootings are, they are still so tiny in number compared to the male population, that it's hopeless to identify the potential shooters ahead of time, except maybe in the final minutes or hours before an attempted mass shooting is undertaken.

I agree that percentage wise the individuals engaging in these atrocities are so small that any surveillance or early detection may be nearly impossible. However, it is worth people taking the time to attempt to determine the underlying causes and motivations.

For example, there is a pretty good base of knowledge about the causes of gang violence in inner city neighborhoods. The government doesn't do much about it, and numerically it results in many more shootings and deaths, but at least there is a general understanding of the causes.
