Anyone who advances in the Church (any church) beyond the level of parish priest is a political animal... that has been true for a long long time. Just like any organization of men... if you aren’t playing politics you will hit a ceiling in any hierarchy.

I was reading a Catholic writer here in Australia the other day and he did a good job of using doctrinal statements to excoriated right wing Catholics that support Trump. The writing could almost convince a good Catholic trying to find their way through current times. It took me a bit of critical thinking to work my way through it. If you pull back and look at the bigger picture Trump is doing the greater good. Not everyone will see him working for the common good but what is considered the norm or common has moved so much into the camp of evil that it takes someone l I keep Trump to pull things back. Look what the Catholic support for the Dems has allowed them to do under the guise of loving your neighbor.
Faith is in Christ and the doctrines of the Church, NOT in its members.
He addressed their collective stupidity that extends to all of the "white" people who embrace their ideas.
I still am stunned that people keep calling President Trump’s tweets racist when he never mentioned race, or skin color, or even party.
Just like everyone is saying he told them to “leave”. Not really, he told them to come back too. And I am pretty sure no one on this board approved of that.
People are mad because they are US citizens by birth (3 of them) and are “from” the US. But they keep talking about their homelands as if those places were better than the US. So, again, they are the ones bringing it up so why is Trump in trouble for answering them. If you keep sticking another country in front of a hyphen and put America in back, then America should put you in back.
Placed in his position to do exactly what he is doing, attacking Trump.
The Catholic Church is corrupt beyond repair.
Normally, from the few writers of that kind that I have read, they focus on motes in Trump’s eyes and never notice the beams of abortion and homosexuality sticking out of their own eyes.
On that point my Diocese just released some numbers.
Since the latest priest abuse scandal broke last summer Mass attendance is down 9% and financial contributions are down 11%.
Who listens to Catholic Bishops anymore? They have been disgraced for covering up the pedophile/pederast scandal in their midst.
It is called dealing with the TRUTH rather than just sweeping it under the rug or ignoring it.
I had thought our “national life” was in fact in an expansion mode, and in no way “diminishing”. But then, it is not my ox that has been gored.

What is diminishing our public life are the insane practices of the people Trump criticized. Their skin color should be irrelevant if you are not racist.

Would seem that would qualify the Catholic Church to having their tax exempt status removed...How much more political can you get???
