THE current solar minimum could last for more than three decades which could lead to temperatures plummeting across the globe, scientists have warned.

We are having a mild summer in Atlanta. One day last week it was only 78 degrees.
Here in central TX we have yet to see 100F. Everything is still green!
But then the NFL would need to realign so the Patriots could maintain an easy path to winning their division every year.
Winter is coming!
Maunder period had two back-to-back solar minimums with only a modest interval of minimal warming between the two.
Yeah, I thought the erf had a fever?
They print that hysteria while ignoring a massive cold snap in Russia.
I hear ya. It should be mid nineties here in Ga in late July and August but its mid eighties.
“A leading Russian climatologist has stated that we are entering a Maunder Minimum which could last 300 years. Russia has much ag production to lose if that is the case.”
Which is why they’ve been reluctant to leave Syria?
Thank you. Sincerely.
I wonder if the same was true during the cold period that followed the Roman Warming Period. I believe this cold period is better known as the Dark Ages.
Same here in East Texas. I looked it up not long ago, end of July to 1st days of August 1998 was 106° to 108° here for 3 or 4 days, hottest I’d ever seen. normal average is about 104°, with an occasional 105° thrown in. Aug 1, 1998 was 107°, Aug 2 was 108°. All the other high temps for August are before 1962, one high in 2000 of 109° on Aug 31.
This summer so far, I think 94° is the hottest I’ve seen, maybe 96°. I think 98° was predicted a few times, don’t think it ever made it.
The last time our area got 108° was 1935 & 1962. All time high was 110° in 1909. The year 2011 had a few fairly consistent temps of 105° and 106° during August. This year has been mild...so have the last 15 or so, with a few high temps around 105°in 2011. All the other high temps for August are before 1962.
The good news is we still have real scientists... the bad news is they're telling the truth.

Years ago I heard the process can start - and have impact - fairly quickly. Ice 'grows' up from frozen land (summers absent for a few years) long before any 'glacial movement' starts... Or is that myth?
I’ve read that also. Don’t know what to think yet.
Let’s hope not!
My cascade hops plants survive sub-zero weather here in the Rockies ... at least we'll have beer.
Actually, the next solar cycle has probably started, with at least three sunspots showing reversed polarity from the previous cycle.
I blame gobal warmi....
“But but but Mister Liberal Asshole you told us the world is getting hotter - oh Im soo confuse!”
You’re confused because you didn’t get the memo. It’s “climate change” baby. Regardless of which way it goes they’re right.
Gee who would have thought the sun’s output had anything to do with climate change since our our climate we are told hinges solely on parts per million levels of CO2. The dogma of St. Al Gore says our carbon sins are to bring us hell on earth unless we repent, give up the internal combustion engine, airplanes, raising flatulence producing cows and adopt socialism. To think otherwise is heresy.
Next meme - the mini ice age saved us from globull warming and now we have more time to stop Man from killing us all....
