The Torah imposes harsh penalties on certain sexual sins, not to be mean, but to insure the survival of the community. Violation of the Biblical Sex Ethic is is inimical to life itself, and if a Society at large indulges the violation, the judgement of G-d falls on the whole society. It’s absurd to argue against the Torah because the entire Universe and its form are infused with it. As G-d has said, “See, I have placed before your Life and Death: Choose Life, that you and your children may live.” -Deut. 30:19
