Does Ilhan Omar represent the Fifth Congressional District of Minnesota? That's her official job. But buried in the back of her mind, ready to spring out in unguarded or stressful moments, seems to be the notion that her real country is Somalia.
Streiff of Red State notes that there is a pattern of her speaking of Somalia, which she left at about age 8, as her country, not the nation from which she draws a substantial salary and whose constitution she is sworn to protect.
Chris Berg on Twitter spotted a Freudian slip that Omar quickly caught, when she returned to MSP Airport last week, to be greeted by 100 or so cheering supporters. The fact that she corrected herself is significant, indicating that she realizes that she must present a false front to her ostensible constituents in Minnesota.

And Streiff posts another example from 2015 in which, speaking to the "Revolution Somali Youth League," she called Somalia "our nation."

I wish she would go back and take all of her 80,000 constituents with her. If it’s such a great place be like a tree and leave.

My NYC classroom was full of students from over a hundred countries. I always felt somewhat irked when they’d say “my country”-—and they certainly didn’t mean the USA. I’d gently ask them, “What country are you in now?” They’d answer, “America”. I’d then ask them, “Do you live here now?” They would agree. Then I’d ask them, “So the U.S. [which is giving you your free housing, food, education and health care] is not your country?” They look confused. So I can understand this dual-loyalty (although the American part of that is minimal indeed) faux pas that this critter made. It is very common of people who don’t think of themselves as Americans—they’re just living here and sucking up all the benefits on our dime.
Always annoys me when I hear that “My Country” crap from people living here.
Talk with folks who came here the right way, for the right reasons. They will tell you of their overwhelming JOY for the opportunity. How they thank G-d every day to live in the US.
For many, they walked away from everything in “Their Old Country” (that’s a phrase I hear lots of times) just for a chance, an OPPORTUNITY to raise their children here.
You won’t hear the “My Country” crap from anyone but ungrateful shiitepipes that should “Go Back Where They Came From”.

Precisely why the founders excluded the children of foreign nationals with the natural born citizen clause.
Natural born citizens are born here of two citizen parents.
I think having a double standard like that should be “actionable” by any means necessary.
For once we can all agree.
