“What’s interesting is this still directly contradicts Barr’s statement about what Mueller told him on this point. According to Barr, Mueller repeatedly said the OLC guideline was *not* the only reason he didn’t decide on obstruction.”
And what’s even more “interesting” is that Barr had him on speaker phone and has several witnesses to Mueller’s stating it not only was not “the only reason” but was not “a reason” for not recommending a charge of obstruction.
See #1657. The Office of Special Counsel put out a memo on March 29 that reconciled Mueller’s statement that day with Barr’s remarks about what Mueller had said on the speaker phone about the OLC guidelines.
Mueller’s clarification today seems to have stepped things back to what that memo said, which gets him back into alignment with what Barr said Mueller said on the speaker phone.
(or at least that’s how it looks to me at the moment...)
