My Dad and I were discussing a Kurt Schlichter column via email the other day. This is my response to Dad when he said “not all Dems are like this”:
Dear Dad,
I’m loathe to make the comparison but not all Germans were Nazis in the 30s and 40s. But that didn’t matter much. The ones in charge were and that was enough to start a war that literally set the world on fire and claimed more than 70 million lives.
When the Bolshevik Revolution started there were a comparative handful of them. Yet in less than a decade they’d consolidated an iron grip on power that lasted for 70 years, enslaved all of Eastern Europe, and orchestrated the murders of millions of people.
In the late 1960s the Khmer Rouge were a tiny fraction of the Cambodian population. By 1975 they’d overthrown the government and went on a spree of mass murder that left 25% of the population dead in what came to be known as The Killing Fields. All that horror happened in less than 5 years after they took power.
Also in the late 1960s the Weather Underground, led by a couple of committed Communists named Bernardine Dohrn and Bill Ayers went on a 3 year spree of robberies, bombings, and murder. Ayers openly spoke of needing to kill off about 25% of the US population in order to bring their sick vision to reality. These days they’re both professors at the University of Chicago and live a couple of blocks away from Obama’s house. Ayers is alleged to have ghost written Obama’s book and was a frequent guest in his home.
When asked Obama said “he’s just some guy who lives in my neighborhood.” Because we all hang out with folks who robbed armored cars, set off bombs that killed cops, and stuff like that.
Are all Dems as outhouse rat crazy as the ones running for President? Of course not. But Sam Nunn, Zell Miller, and JFK couldn’t win a primary election as Dems these days. And that’s the fact. They probably couldn’t win as Republicans. Joe Biden is the most “reasonable” one running and he’s being savaged for being too old, too conservative, and worst of all too white.
One of them, some nutball from California (where else of course) actually said out loud that nuclear weapons could be used against American gun owners who wouldn’t turn in “bad” guns. Well Dad, I fit that description. Thankfully that particularly odious creep has dropped out. But the rest of them are all on the same page even if they aren’t saying it out loud. Not yet anyway.
In the 40s, 50s, and 60s the Democrat Party had the KKK as their armed wing who were busy killing uppity black folks who wanted to vote. They set dogs on them, used fire hoses, beat the crap out of peaceful demonstrators, and killed more than just a few. Today they’ve updated their goon squad and call themselves Antifa. Instead of white hoods they wear black masks but the goals and tactics are pretty much the same.
Back then George Wallace and Bull Connor let the Klan have the run of their streets. These days the mayors of Portland, Seattle, and Chicago are doing the same with Antifa. They wear black masks, carry rifles and clubs, attack cops, beat conservative journalists to the point of hospitalization, all in broad daylight as the cops stand by.
History doesn’t repeat itself verbatim but it sure does rhyme. And us “normals”, as Colonel Schlichter calls us, damned well better be paying attention because these people mean what they say. They’re after the most powerful drug ever created; political power.
The New York Times is running editorials in favor of not serving people in restaurants because they support the President. And while they don’t condone spitting in their food they can “understand why it happens”. Really? Really?
Sorry to drone on like this but we are living in some scary times. We came within an eyelash of having a lawfully elected President driven from office over a lie concocted by the Democrat Party and no small number of high government officials. And they haven’t given up yet. They’re not going to, either.
So we have two basic choices. We can either defeat them at the ballot box in 2020 so thoroughly that they’re driven to minority status for the next 20 years or we can get complacent and let them win. If that happens they’ll make damned sure that no President Trump ever happens again. I don’t care if you think he’s uncouth, undignified, or whatever. He won, fair and square.
He may not be the President we wanted. But he’s just the President we need. To paraphrase President Lincoln “we can’t spare this man. He fights.”
