Silly me, here I was thinking that slave owners generally treated their slaves very badly indeed. But, according to Miss Liberal, slave owners cuddled their slaves, took them for regular walks, groomed them, hugged them regularly, showered them with love, bought them all kinds of gifts, and even made sure that when they went on holiday, their slaves would be treated well. After all, that is how we dog-owners treat our dogs

How can I miss having what I never had? The last living westerner that had the personal experience of owning a slave has to have died at least 50 years ago.

Muslim countries are a different matter. You can find slaves in some of those countries in the present day.

What people are replacing with pet ownership is children. The dearth of births is leaving a gap in people’s lives that they fill with pets to dote over. Modern pets are anything but slave like in how they are treated.
