Our local BofA installed ATM’s in the old drive thru teller lanes.

I don’t see why they would remove the ATM’s on the outside of their buildings

Probably in the case of the location you mentioned, it was cause they were shutting down that branch

Chase some time ago installed a couple of ATM’s inside their branches to cut down on teller use.

I believe “wall” ATM’s were usually serviced from the inside by tellers. No employee’s -—> no way to refill the cash, return cards, etc.

The outside ATM’s are serviced by roving maintenance guys. Yeah, they sometimes work on the wall machines, too.

Definitely two different types of machines, though. I seem to remember access panels or a locked small room by the wall ATM inside the building.
