Michelle O always complained about her student loan. You know, the loan that sent her to Princeton where she wrote that brilliant, not, rambling about how hard life was for a minority person such as her. Just to prove her point, it was from here that she vaulted into a failed law career, and then into that no show job to support her low energy husband and the rest of her family. She really couldn’t find anything to make her happy with her country until Zero won the Presidency. Now we can make her proud again by paying off her student debt. Poor baby.
Back 40 years ago, tuition room and board at even a top end private school ran about 10-15% per annum of a top end civil service professional - not political level - salary. Now it is running up against 40%. That is a large multiple of inflation and says a lot about what has happened to the middle class.
This isn't socialism - with professors and administrators earning socialist salaries - this is crony capitalism where people are making out like bandits not doing much while hoarding the public trough.
A colleague and I were talking about just that this morning in the hallowed halls of academe as we went to teach our classes. Let's start our own reparations campaign.
