Anyone Republican, regardless of any shenanigans that occurred, that can't beat liberal like Doug Jones should have the sense not to run.

Sadly, the GOP establishment does not agree and chose to openly campaign for progressive Democrat Jones in this case. Going so far as to send the 83 year old GOP senior senator from Alabama on a barnstorming tour of the state on election eve to suppress the GOP vote and elect a progressive Democrat.

Given that the GOPe prefer Democrats to conservatives it seems the Buckley rule is dead for good. What’s good for the goose...
