Alabama's Roy Moore to run for U.S. Senate in 2020

Alabama Republican Roy Moore has announced he is running for U.S. Senate again in 2020 after failing to win the seat two years ago amid sexual misconduct accusations.

Moore announced his campaign Thursday, seeking an eventual rematch against Democratic Sen. Doug Jones. The announcement upends an election viewed by Republicans as a top priority in 2020 and ignores President Donald Trump's warning that he "cannot win."

Yes.

I posted at the time that Moore was in ROTC in high school, went to West Point for college, went straight to Vietnam to be an MP, went straight to law school when he was discharged, and then went back home to practice law when he graduated.

He essentially missed his entire twenties, the prime dating window. Once he got back home, I assume that many of the women his age were already married, so he had to go younger to find a mate. Once he married, he stayed married for life.

That explanation fits his time line and makes sense to me. It was not the behavior of a deviant.

I am not quite understanding your point- if the national party is providing the funding, then the national party is going to have the say in who they fund

I do not understand why my point is hard to follow. Moore was nominated, and the National party began funding him.

When the lying bitches made their false accusations against Moore, the National party immediately yanked all his funding without any due process. On mere accusations they pulled all his funding.

Yes, they have a right to fund who they like, but doesn't a man have a right to "due process"? When that lying bitch "Christina Blassey Ford" accused Brett Kavanaugh of assaulting her, did the Republican party say "Oh Well! He's guilty, so let's cut him off at the knees!"

No they did not. They brought in people to refute this woman and question her story, which was ultimately shown to be a whole lot of bullsh*t.

So what does it mean when the National party drops you over mere accusations? It means that they regard you as guilty, and therefore unworthy to be a candidate.

What effect does this have on your election chances? It wrecks h3ll out of them!

The party should have taken no action other than to issue the statement that until the matter is adjudicated, the man is presumed innocent.

Pulling his funding sent the immediate message that the National party regarded him as guilty, and on flimsy trumped up claims by two women of bad credibility.

Yikes!

Does the Alabama GOP have a runoff system? If not, Moore is likely to win with that many candidates in the race.

it all did.

Either Moore did what he is accused of and is the scum of the earth.

or he didn’t and he was set up (most likely)

what’s to stop the media from doing it again? What will happen if the RNC doesn’t pull funding (the media won’t let the nation for get they did the first time)

Guilty or not, he is damaged goods.

It. GitHub actually help the republican primary. If he gets the republican nomination he will not win we have already proven that. He gave the seat to the dems 2 years ago. Why should he have the chance to do it again with the backing of the Republican Party?

Moore is an inarticulate man of faith. I like him. But Mo Brooks will swamp Jones next year. He’s one of us, and he doesn’t have foot-in-mouth disease.

” but doesn’t a man have a right to “due process””

I don’t think so, although I could be wrong.

My non lawyer understanding is that ‘Due Process’ is a legal term referring to the operation of courts of law. if I’m arrested, I have a right to due process.

If you start funding my candidacy, and then I say or do something asinine (or merely something you disagree with), you have every right to say ‘no more $$ for you” that very second (barring some sort of legal contract). And vice versa.

The national party seems to be mostly composed of cowardly, lying RINO never Trumpers, who would hae been much happier with !Yeb.

Creepy Roy liked/likes dating girls barely of legal age of consent, that’s creepy enough for me. He ran and lost BECAUSE enough voters agreed that he is too creepy.

Alabama can’t do better than this slimey idiot?!? Incredible!!!!

Moore’s strengths have always been his morals and values. He wore religion on his sleeves. The allegations and the fact he dated young women gave him the creep factor and resulted in him becoming an embarrassment. He was also a lousy candidate. Many wrote in names on the ballots or stayed home.

The claim that he dated 18 and 19 year old women was not what caused his loss. It was the serious claims by two women that caused his loss. The one woman claimed he molested her when she was 14 years old. The other woman claimed he attempted to rape her when she was 16 years old.

Only these two claims had any significance in the election. The other six women who said they dated Moore as a Teenager did not cause any significant losses to Moore.

What made it problematic is the fact that Stephanie McCrummen, the lying witch from the Washington Post, combined the two serious claims by these two particular women, with the other six women who claimed they dated Moore (and said he behaved as a perfect gentleman by the way) and then repeated "8 accusers! 8 accusers!"

Also, one of those women who claims to have dated Moore when she was 18 was a Democrat party activist, (Debbie Wesson Gibson) and she is the one that did in fact make the Washington Post reporter Stephanie McCrummen aware of these two women (Leigh Corfman and Beverly Young Nelson) making the serious accusations.

He can’t win even with all the tea in China.

I don't know if he can win, and at this point I'd rather not find out. Hopefully he can be talked out of it, or someone else will win in the primary.

Bush lost to Clinton because of Perot. Perot got 20% of the national vote.

Perot only jumped into the race because George HW Bush was seen as weak and vulnerable as a result of his broken promise.

If he hadn't broken that promise, he would have won against Bill Clinton.

Well thanks to Perot, we got Clinton. Bottom line. I’d say, Perot was a bigtime loser, not Bush.

I agree with what you've stated, Old Friend, with the exception of thinking Alabama is better served by letting someone else run. My non-Alabaman opinion is that Alabama is better served by vindicating the victim of a successful Kavanaugh'ing. The whole nation is better served by removing the Kavanaugh'ing tool from the leftist's toolbox. As long as the tool works, they will keep using it. And what could be better than a successful re-bid for Moore into office to prove that the tool is now utterly broken?

Your argument has a great deal of merit to it, and it is in fact something I have strongly considered. I am simply fearful of risking it because I so very badly want our side to win the Senate seat. It would give me great pleasure to see Moore win it, just to refute this tactic of smear accusations by the Democrats and backstabbing by the Republicans.

I hope the Alabamians make the right choice, but i'll support their choice whomever it is.

“He puts real law above made up phoney balloney lying crap law decreed by arrogant judge bastards on the Federal Judiciary. “

Precisely what “real law” is he upholding?

Statutory US law backed up by Judicial decisions, or some other?

Whether one agrees with USSC decisions or not, even a fool must conceded it’s the de facto law of the land. If you doubt that, trying violating them and see what happens.

I knew this is the kind of stuff that would get posted on FR. You DON’T KNOW the man. He’s a good man. You are just doing what the media told you to do. If I was a Mod, you’d get zotted for what you wrote.

Why don’t you stay out of Alabama politics, if you don’t know anything about us or the man?
