“US petroleum and natural gas production first surpassed Russia in 2012, and the United States has been the world’s top producer of natural gas since 2011 and the world’s top producer of petroleum hydrocarbons since 2013”
It is crude oil production in particular in which the US became top in the world under Trump, according to the EIA: it surpassed Saudi Arabia and Russia in 2018.
Russia was ahead of USA before then? Ever since the 1970’s,
if not before? Wow.
You got it. Our Domestic production has increased from a low of about 5.8 million bbls in the last 15 years daily to about 11 million bbls daily, mainly because of new technology with shale oil and gas. If you recall, the Obama admin fought shale development every where they could. The great state of New York has opted out of it totally, even though they are going bankrupt. They are passing a bill this week to be totally non carbon in 20 years. Maybe we producing States might be willing to sell them some (at the right price.)
