In 2008, California voted 52%-47% to outlaw gay marriage, which briefly shocked the state, and to some extent shocked the country. White California voters overwhelmingly supported gay marriage. However, Black and Hispanic California voters overwhelmingly rejected gay marriage!

I remember that. I live in Los Angeles, and for a while they tried to blame it on the All Powerful Mormons, then they just kind of shut up about it.
