PARIS The leadership of Airbus appeared at a press briefing ahead of the Paris Air Show on the companys 50th anniversary with an all-new team and a new style.
Chief executive Guillaume Faury led the group, talking about the companys plans not only to automate and digitize production but to address concerns over climate change by inventing the decarbonized aviation of the future.
He was followed by new sales chief Christian Scherer, who proved a solid replacement for his firebrand predecessor John Leahy by not only talking up the Airbus jets but declaring their vast superiority to Boeings airplane lineup.
The Airbus communications team had asked me not to trash the competition, he said, disingenuously, But I cant help myself.

Maybe this unhinged jackwagon is in the wrong business.
Did the announce their solar powered A380? Or the windpowered A320?
Lockheed had a hydrogen fueled L-1011 flying decades ago.
Lockheed of course studied the idea, using their last commercial airliner, the L-1011, as the basis. One concept called for giant fuel tanks to be carried on the wings, making the plane look almost like three aircraft flying in close formation; another idea was to stretch the fuselage and insert propellant tanks in front of and behind the passenger compartment. This would of course separate the passengers from the pilots. Also studied was the same idea but for an L-1011 freighter, artwork for which is shown below.
The idea would have almost certainly worked. But it would have been a logistical headache of the worst kind. None of the existing airport refueling infrastructure would have been usable, and the crews would have to be especially trained. Jet fuel can be stored in simple tanks; liquid hydrogen needs much more careful management to minimize boiloff.

rubber band powered
and that’s why these Euroweenies will fail again. Hypocrites. So what these imbecile is saying they should not use fuel, yet build an airplane? Seriously...
Perhaps this man would like to discuss the Airbus crash at the Paris Airshow some years ago. The computer crashed that Airbus just as did the recent 787 Max. When the computer overrides the pilot you have a problem. Air France also put an Airbus in the Atlantic about ten years ago. The cockpit trusted the computer instead of just flying the aircraft by hand. All died. All they needed do was just fly the damn thing based on Artificial Horizon. The cockpit followed erroneous information from 38000 feet to impact with the ocean. All they had to do was just lower the nose. Their error was trusting the computer instead of the artificial horizon that was right in front of their faces on the display.
Who wants to fly in a plane mainly designed to limit carbon usage and not mainly designed for safety ?
