But then they Double Dog Dare you and say, Fire Me. Then they run to their nearest AFSCME union rep and sue to keep or get their job back, with backpay if required. After which they are untouchable.

Yes, I know.

Some years ago, I saw a flow diagram that clearly demonstrated just how difficult it is to fire a GS employee.

Boggled my mind - it takes years, costs a lot of money and time, and, generally is not worth the considerable effort it takes to get done.

So, the disfavored employee is shuffled off to a “safe space” and allowed to draw pay and benefits. Paid for doing nothing, but no longer able to throw sand in the gears!
