First of all, there are no “former” Marines. My Marine Nephew served two Tours in Afghanistan before coming back home and being killed in a Motorcycle Accident.

He is and will always be a Marine, just like you.

Secondly, are you saying the Poster can not have a different opinion than a person who served in the Armed Services?

Hey, man, I'm sorry to hear about your nephew. We say 'Former Marine' just because it's easier than saying 'Marine Not Currently On Active Duty'.. Or anything like that.

We NEVER say 'Ex-Marine'.

And of course the poster can have a different opinion. It would just be nice for the poster to know with whom he has that difference. 8~)
