(Joe Raedle/Getty) TALLAHASSEE - A state ethics panel Friday approved a $5,000 fine for former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum despite some concerns a settlement wasnt tough enough or that he has claimed vindication in a probe into his actions while serving as Tallahassee mayor.
The seven-member Florida Commission on Ethics, in a voice vote, accepted the settlement, which included dropping four of five charges of ethics violations. The probe involved trips Gillum took to Costa Rica and New York, a boat ride around the Statue of Liberty and a ticket to the Broadway hit, Hamilton.

If the Feebs weren’t so busy engaging in sedition, they’d have time to go after crooked pols.
<><> 52 LLCs list the Jennings Street address, many of which have donated to state and local Democrats including Sunnyland Solar, connected to a city-subsidized liberal-loving clean energy project now under FBI scrutiny. Mayor Gillum voted in 2011 to give Sunnyland Solar up to $5.4 million in tax subsidies.
<><>local businessman J.T. Burnette, a major Gillum backer who in 2014 received $883,000 in city tax subsidies for developing a downtown hotel. Gillum declined to comment. Burnette become a major political player by taking advantage of the LLC loophole. Florida is one of several states that allows LLC's even if they have the same ownership to contribute as separate individuals, permitted to give the maximum amount of $1,000 from each "subsidiary."
KaiserKane, named in the FBI subpoena, actually bought the Jennings Street property in 2013 for $1.15 million, records show. The building was sold in 2016 to 311 Jennings LLC, a company that lists Burnettes home as its corporate address. The Jennings building was sold again in March 2017 to the PACE Center for Girls, a Jacksonville-based nonprofit.
<><>KaiserKane still uses the address for its Tallahassee office on its website contact page. Cynthia Montgomery, a lawyer representing PACE, said her client is the lone occupant of the 12,000-square-foot building. KaiserKane President Melissa Oglesby did not return a call.
<><> Significantly Mayor Gillums campaign was operating out of 1550 Melvin St, owned by longtime confidante Sharon Lettman-Hicks....the same building he has worked out of in his side gigs, first as director of youth leadership for the advocacy group People for the American Way, then for Lettman-Hicks P & P Communications, where Gillum was VP. Just what Gillum did for P & P, though, is not known. The company has no website, no dedicated phone line and has not formally disclosed its clients.
<><> The Melvin building was bought with funding from the NW Florida Black Business Investment Corporation, a tax-exempt group that provides (wait for it) "investment funding." Two of the investment corporation directors are part of a group that in July received $281,000 in Tallahassee community development tax dollars for exclusive rights to a development project in the city. TO BE DETERMINED: How many Gillum's gubernatorial voters are registered at that address AND at other addresses.
and how many of Gillum's ladies are living at that address?
The next Florida Senate President, Republican Wilton Simpson, sold a nice piece of property to Tampa Electric Co, for a very tidy multi-million dollar profit. He bought low, and sold high to an industry with SUBSTANTIAL legislative business before the Florida legislature.
Wilton was never much of a land speculator, until the lobbyists got a hold of him. As a result, the Sunshine State will slow walk the conversion to residential solar energy.
There is corruption in plain sight in Florida, and both parties are winking at each other.
They almost always do when it comes to the powerful and well-connected.
Sure lets let every democrat off of every charge....I mean it sure seems like that is what is happening. Is there a law I missed that states only conservatives get tired
Let Gillum NEVER speak the word ‘reparations’ again.
He just got his reparations and a whole lot more in the form of cancelled culpability on some SERIOUS financial crimes
Rule of law, my asp
So it’s a “settlement” if one scans the title, but a “fine” if one actually reads the article? The MSM is so transparent in its bias it’s almost pathetic
Florida barely escaped falling into the a
dark, bottomless abyss of socialism had Gillum won.
I’ll never forget these words:
“If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to ...”
Unless the punishment fits the crime, it will happen again.....and again.....and again.....and again......and again, ad infinitum.
Oh wait, it already has happened again and again.......Dems are NEVER held truly accountable for ANY CRIME.
Another RAT breaks the law and get away with it. Just like Omar.
Seems like if you’re a rat and not white you can get away with anything. nobama leads the way.
What to do, what to do? It’s either the crooks running a legitimate utility or the crooks selling the pipe dream of tax payer and rate payer subsidized residential solar panels. Which are regular crooks and which are crooks and scam artist.
How about everyone just follow the letter and spirit of the law, which is written to PREVENT using inflated land transactions, from being used to lobby for legislation? Liberals use this scam all the time, ever heard of Whitewater?
Once the liberals have corrupted the conservatives by looking the other way, THEN you get conservatives, who won’t lift a finger to stop abortions, illegal immigration or gay marriage.
