Over the next two days, the 75th anniversary of D-Day will be marked with solemn salutes for the undaunted courage of individual soldiers and sailors and the inspired leadership that assembled the armada that liberated Europe.
President Trump will take part in ceremonies in England and then in Normandy, France, where the German bunkers, bomb craters and the vast American cemetery stand in silent testament to the great alliance that came ashore and defeated Hitler.
Indeed it was great, perhaps the greatest wartime alliance in history, but could it be done again? If, God forbid, another Hitler were carving up Europe like warm bread, would a new international force respond to storm the beaches and save civilization?

Great article...thanks for sharing.
Thanks, indeed a great read!
"Yet to hear the London demonstrators and some foolish British politicians, Trump is the biggest problem in the world. If it werent for him, the lion and the lamb could lay down together.
Sure, all you would need is a new lamb each morning."
Bump!
Yes, great article

Worth a re-read for anyone who thinks anything has changed. The world is always ripe for the next wolf in sheeps clothing. The Islamic hordes have already announced world conquest is their goal and purpose.
Europe itself except for Poland, Hungary, and perhaps the Czech Republic have blissfully invited them to the feast at which Europe is the Soup de jour. Europe is broke, in more ways than one. England has one chance in Brexit.
If God fails to overlook our great sin against him, where will we be when this all shakes out? For the moment in history it appears to me DJ Trump is about all we have going for us.
Screw ‘em. We’re tired of war.
Fantastic article. It’s great to read things like this from time to time.
“would a new international force respond to storm the beaches and save civilization?”
Many Europeans, particularly in Eastern Europe, thought they were saving civilization - from Bolshevism. They were right, and we were on Stalin’s side. We made those Eastern European countries pay with nearly half a century of Soviet occupation - which is what they were resisting in the 1930s when America, Britain, and France refused to help them. Poland wasn’t invaded by Germany alone; the Soviets invaded and took the eastern half, as well as Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and part of Finland.

There is a valuable book, The Road Ahead, but John T. Flynn. It is free for the download. I first came across it when doing through my late Fathers journalism college books.
It is a small book, written in 1949, but it issued a warning about creeping socialism that was consuming post-war England and was a real and present danger to the USA, even worse than the Communists.

It is well worth the read.

“Next World War dont call us, well call you. And learn how to speak Arabic.”
Like my Dad, who fought in WWII, used to say, ‘ If you need me, I’ll call you.’
Absolutely true. Most of the men my grandfather’s age were in WWII (including my grandfather). Mine didn’t talk much about it, although when he passed, there was a previously unknown Silver Star with with his uniform. He did often say he was in ‘Patton’s army’. Most of the old men said that the French didn’t care if the Germans or Americans were winning for the most part. I also knew a man well who was a prisoner of war and liberated by the Russians. He hated the Russians, they liberated them in the winter, confiscated their coats, hats and shoes and nearly starved him to death. He spoke better of the Germans at a prison camp than Russians!
