I think there is another reason also. What if, once impeachment hearings are started and the “other” side of the story gets out during “cross examination” of the witnesses and the public support actually drops rather than increases? Then the House will have exonerated PDJT. The financial crimes they are hoping on will not jell because there is nothing there and the courts, most likely, will shoot down the fishing exhibition. If they can’t get a majority of the committee or the house to vote to impeach they will have sullied up their own side, not PDJT.
There is already NO PUBLIC support for impeachment, and that’s why Schiff and all democrats are having to come up with their alternate excuses for why they can’t and won’t impeach. The only public support to be found anywhere, is in the liberal polls conducted by the lying-left-wing media.
