My first act as a newly minted safety officer was to call in Cal/OSHA for an audit.
I’ve never called for an inspection or audit myself, but I have certainly done my bit to prepare for one. I am not currently a safety officer, but have been one in the past. And I still conduct safety inspections.
I’ll never forget the time I opened a lab fridge that was not rated for flammables storage and found a bottle of ether. That’s enough to cause the heart to jump a bit.
