Elijah Cummings denies wife's charity is conflict of interest or tax violation
Washington Examiner ^ | 5/23/19 | Alana Goodman

Rep. Elijah Cummings denied that corporate donations to his wife’s charity posed a conflict of interest with his House Oversight Committee chairmanship and denounced an IRS complaint filed against the organization as “a fabricated distraction” on Wednesday.

The National Legal and Policy Center, a government watchdog group, filed an IRS complaint against Cummings’ wife Maya Rockeymoore’s nonprofit organization on Monday, the Washington Examiner first reported.

The complaint asked the IRS to investigate the overlap between Rockeymoore’s nonprofit Center for Global Policy Solutions and her for-profit consulting firm Global Policy Solutions LLC to determine whether the arrangement was used for "illegal private benefit."

Rockeymoore’s nonprofit group and LLC have mutual clients, donors, and projects and were located at the same address and share a phone number. The National Legal and Policy Center’s IRS complaint claims that they “appear to operate almost as a single entity, allowing for an illegal private benefit for Maya Rockeymoore Cummings and her husband.”

Sounds like he’s obstructing justice, to me. He appears to be trying to cover up, and interfere in the investigation. What is he hiding? Did he collude with her? I have heard there is evidence, and at some point, someone will release that evidence that he did collude/conspire to do something illegal. Then we’ll impeach him. And ruin his family, too.

When a tax-exempt PAC and a for-profit company have virtually identical names, it’s a blinking neon light sign of potential fraud. It’s so easy to deposit incoming tax-exempt contributions in the for-profit account. And, for some, its got to be tempting.

Isn’t there a story around that AOC’s Svengali adviser did exactly that?

Were the Kennedys the first political dynasty to pull of this “foundation” crap and remain in office for decades?

I just filled out all this paperwork for the state of California. I started a for profit to help out charities. We are ‘Registered Fundraisers’. Among the questions were if any of our board members or anyone in the company....sat on a board, was an officer. etc., of a non profit agency. And if so which one, address, contact info, etc.
Maybe other states don’t ask these questions?.?.

Some might ask how the IRS might close-down M/M Cummings’ gold mine of a scam.

AFAIK, each bank reorrds every check that is presented to its system-——as well, the front and back of each check are copied.

That means if the Cummings deposited checks made out to the n/p into its consulting account, the bank would have all of that recorded.
