Trump is punting. We’ve gone from the “white house is going to declassify” to Barr doing it. Trump is slow walking this because he knows Obama’s spying is now a political issue for 2020 and not a criminal “matter”. No Democrats are going to jail for their crimes. The GOP would never support that and without that support on their flanks the Trump admin is powerless to prosecute them.
I won't predict either way, but there MUST be indictments of key players. The Democrats need to be on the defensive the rest of the way to 2020, and every few weeks another indictment needs to be handed down. Also, any time an indictment is handed down, and the suspect doesn't plead to the first offer, more charges need to be added.
What about the non-political side of prosecuting?
