He said he was there. He had a picture wearing a white uniform which was not the uniform in Viet Nam. He called all Viet Nam veterans baby killers and war criminals. He was quite vocal against America with his winter soldier movement. He negotiated with North Vietnam during the Viet Nam War. He is still at it, serial treason one might say.
