Don't be naive, in Warsaw's embassy you have special envoy (Tom Yazdgerdi) who is there to work on over this issue. Our sources say that he putting the pressure on Polish government officials.

Remember recent "Iranian conference" in Warsaw? Pompeo arrived to Warsaw and urged Polish government to establish special laws to solve this issue.

So we Poles need to put pressure on our government as well. The march started in front of our PM office and ended in front of US embassy.

Why are they marching? Who has been telling lies to people to get them worked up about this? All this act does is ask our Secretary of State to find out from the Polish Foreign Minister what "national laws and enforceable policies" exist now "regarding the identification and the, return of, or restitution for wrongfully seized or transferred Holocaust era assets" and report that to our U. S. Congress.

It is all a big "nothing burger" all talk and no bite.

With 9.5 million Polish people living in the United States, that is a very large voting block and it looks like some politician is trying to stir something up. That would be Sen. Baldwin, Tammy [D-WI]. Wisconsin for a long time has had a large percentage of Polish Americans.

Just to let you know, Senator Tammy Baldwin is about as popular here on FR as Ebola, Scarlet Fever and The Black Plague.

You should have started with that. That is a much bigger story than complaining about a toothless "Sense of Congress" Act. Those are a "dime a dozen" and largely meaningless.

If US administration do such reports it clearly means that they have some interest to do so. The interest is articulated by various Jewish organizations in the US.

If your government abolish Just Act 447 and stop being interested in our property ownership rights then we will stop the protests.

Yes, I hope Polish American won't allow Poland being robbed by their own government.

Finally, no matter how momentous or threatening the language used in “sense of” resolutions may be, remember that they are little more than political or diplomatic tactic and create no laws whatsoever.

I know, in the EU eurocrats produce millions of such resolutions about forests in Vietnam for example. However this is serious issue, big money on the table and big players in the game. We cannot simply ignore it, we don’t even trust our own government.

Germans chancellor said once that they won’t pay them anymore. So they are looking for somebody else to harass. It should be said that all those who had documents went to Polish courts and were compensated long time ago.

Sorry, nobody is going to abolish a bill regarding feelings about the Holocaust. That's not going to happen.

Do you believe there are any former Jewish possessions the Nazis stole, then murdered the rightful owners, and therefore should be returned to their rightful next-of-kin if they still exist? Would any Polish courts recognize the claim?

We have similar situations in the USA. There is a claim that old Spanish Royal land grants were violated and land the land was stolen by settlers. The Spanish heirs have made a claim in court which blocked all real estate transaction for the past two years.

Polish courts recognized many claims of people that proved their property rights. We protest against heir-less property claims.

(The bill does not provide the US with any enforcement power, only requiring reporting to Congress.)

It should be said that all those who had documents went to Polish courts and were compensated long time ago.

The plot thickens, as they say in the movies.

59 US senators protest Poland’s Holocaust restitution bill

This is dated 27 March 2018

Proposal ‘would discriminate against virtually all American survivors and heirs on the basis that they are not currently citizens of Poland,’ lawmakers say

Restitution experts estimate that following the Holocaust, Jewish individuals and institutions in Poland lost property with a combined value exceeding $1 billion. Poland does not have laws for restitution for privately owned property. It passed a law on communal property in 1997 and has returned some of it, but thousands of claims in that category have gone unaddressed.

So now we see this didn't just happen all of a sudden. Our "Sense of Congress" appears to have been in response to Polish legislation. What's your take on this?

We don't need any special laws, if you have papers you can go to court and get property returned or compensated.

It is leftist thing to demand separate laws to protect women, children, gays, minorities or any other group. We have on law for all.

Is there a blanket denial of all expatriate Polish-American claims as this article indicates? I don’t read or speak Polish. I’ll have to take your word on it.
