They say you have a 1 in 5.3 million chance of dying in an airline crash. If you take a flight every day for 11146 years it is unlikely you would have been in a crash. Still I am a white knuckle flyer. Maybe it is because I am not in control. Maybe it is because I flew on a plane that ended up crashing and another that I may have been on. In 1982 I flew a charter Martinair DC-10 to Europe. That plane crashed in Portugal in 1992 (I had pictures of the plane with the same registration #). In 1962 as a young child I flew on a Bonanza Airlines F-27. They only had 9 at the time in their fleet and one crashed in Las Vegas in 1964.

I did. The first truck seemed to be hampered by the fleeing passengers. But I also noticed pauses in the people exiting the plane. Instead of a steady stream of people hitting the escape ramp, there’d be a few seconds when no one left the plane.
