Kamala Harris calls on DOJ Inspector General to probe whether Trump ordered Bill Barr to investigate his opponents after AG failed to answer during Senate hearing

Kamala Harris grilled AG Bill Barr during Wednesday's Senate Judiciary hearing

She erupted at him for not personally reviewing all the evidence underlying the Mueller report before delivering his conclusions to Congress

Harris also quizzed Barr on whether President Trump or the White House had ever asked him to investigate any of Trump's political opponents

Barr appeared flustered and failed to answer the question

Harris on Friday sent a letter to DOJ's Inspector General Horowitz asking to probe whether Trump had ever asked Barr to investigate anyone

Senator Kamala Harris is calling for the Department of Justice's Inspector General to probe whether President Trump urged Attorney General William Barr to investigate his opponents.

Harris made the request in a letter sent to Inspector General Michael Horowitz on Friday after grilling Barr on the same issue in Wednesday's Senate hearing regarding the Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe.

'In response to my questions during the [Senate Judiciary] hearing, Attorney General Barr proved unable or unwilling to state whether he had been directed to open investigations at the request or suggestion of the President or other White House officials -- an alarming response that strikes at the very heart of the rule of law and threatens to undermine the longstanding independence of the Justice Department,' she wrote in the letter.

'I request that the Office of the Inspector General investigate whether the Attorney General has received or acted upon such improper requests,' she said.

Those investigations were already taking place before Barr was AG.

I’m trying to figure out when Congress goes after an AG for political reasons, what protections does an AG have, what steps do they take in order to stop the smear of their name and work? This is bordering on harassment of an AG.

Doesn’t the President have a right to tell the Justice Department to investigate or open an investigation that he was falsely accused?

Not long lasting, you idiot - it stopped in 2009. This witch has one act and never fails to use it. Was it Andy McCarthy who said she can’t claim that she always reviewed all underlying evidence when deciding a case as she faults Barr for not doing.

There was a poll of non-white Democrats on whom they were backing for the nomination. Biden was getting 50%. Kamala had only 4% (behind several other white candidates).

If she is not winning black Democrats there is no chance she will be the Presidential nominee. Unfortunately she could wind up as the VP nominee which would be dangerous if the Presidential nominee is an old white guy. But I think Trump is likely to beat whichever one of the nasty midgets the Democrats make their standard bearer.
