Senator Kamala Harris is calling for the Department of Justice's Inspector General to probe whether President Trump urged Attorney General William Barr to investigate his opponents.
Harris made the request in a letter sent to Inspector General Michael Horowitz on Friday after grilling Barr on the same issue in Wednesday's Senate hearing regarding the Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe.
'In response to my questions during the [Senate Judiciary] hearing, Attorney General Barr proved unable or unwilling to state whether he had been directed to open investigations at the request or suggestion of the President or other White House officials -- an alarming response that strikes at the very heart of the rule of law and threatens to undermine the longstanding independence of the Justice Department,' she wrote in the letter.
'I request that the Office of the Inspector General investigate whether the Attorney General has received or acted upon such improper requests,' she said.

Far from a grilling, sounds like a slam dunk for Barr to me. Perhaps Kamala would like to argue that Mueller's report was inaccurate, and in fact any attempt to relitigate the evidence by Barr could be interpreted as interfering the the independence of the SC.

As usual she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. President Trump can direct any investigation he wants. However, I watched this and I believe Barr said he was not directed. She then asked “suggested?” and he answered “I wouldn’t say suggested”.
BTW do we recall Kamala’s not supposed to be on that committee and Republicans stupidly made her an affirmative action addition.
Kamala is going to see just how far one can go in a Presidential race with a smirk, a snarky comment, and a hair flip.

As I recall, Bill Barr works for President Trump. If the the President wants Bill Barr to investigate the illegal operations of his political opponents it is quite within his rights to do so.
But did he? I doubt it.
Bill Barr is a smart guy. He doesn’t need to ask the President how to do his job. Plus I’m quite certain that entrapment (the standard leftist technique for securing indictments) will not be included in the Barr Arsenal. The crimes he is investigating are all quite well documented.
In any case it is none of your business.

Okie dokie .... since Barr testified (VOLUNTARILY) before the Senate committee, this has resulted in ethics complaints/calls for investigations against him to both the Virginia and DC bar organizations and now a letter to the DOJ IG.
Don’t give the Dems anything. Before the Dems all came down with the equivalent of Mad Cow disease, i.e. TDS, attempts to be as helpful/forthcoming as possible might have been a good thing on several levels, but as things stand now, I don’t think it’s worth it for Barr, Trump, or anyone else in this administration to offer anything above the absolute minimum required by law. Future questioning - invoke Executive Privilege where possible and necessary. Subpoena issued - fight it tooth & nail.
Always remember, many repubs despise President Trump and you.
White House alone turned over 1.4 million documents. No one, including Mueller, could possibly review all the “underlying evidence”. Considering Mueller used at least 15 prosecutors plus staff, over 2 years, 500 witnesses - I’d estimate it would take any individual 5 to 15 years to personally review “all the underlying evidence”.
