Uh...high taxes are definitely a big problem.
A 3/2 ranch house built in 1955 in Sunnyvale selling for $2.1 million is a lot bigger.
Not just taxes, but just as much a factor is how they view the Second Amendment. Every gun owner in California knows that they have ZERO protection from their state government when it comes to keeping their firearms, and all that is needed for them to lose everything and be at the mercy of MS-13 are Democrat-dominated federal courts.
[which we would have if the NeverTrumpers had their way in 2016, and which is also why I still have a big problem forgiving Ted Cruz for his flirtation with that bunch for as long as he did]
And the worst part is, if it wasn’t for the flood of low income illegals, the population growth would tank even more.
Nothing an open border can’t fix.
We bought our house in Solano County (30 mi. NE of SF) for $295K. Sold it in 2013 for $550k. It is now listed on Zillow for $1,259K. (It is not worth that!)
They were probably not counted
They’re coming to Texas and bring with them their chiity voting ways! CHIT!! Go away we are full..no vacancy!!
It doesn't except through an extreme reset. Think civil war/revolution.
And, financially speaking, what’s leaving is the cream. What’s left is middle class people stuck there - and the “wards of the state”. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
They’ve all moved to Texas and brought their lib ideas with them.
I have several customers in the construction business in Idaho. Almost every person moving into their state are from California or Seattle. The ratio is about 5/1 Ca/Wa.
Many are retiring to a place where the cost of living is so much cheaper. They are all cashing in on the difference in real estate values. Sell your place in Ca or Seattle for $1million and bank a $500+ profit or more. Then they buy a home in Idaho and have no mortgage.
We continue to see the same thing here in NH to some extent. People retire to their vacation home and sell their house in Mass, RI, CT, NY & PA. The problem is that it has changed NH from a RED state to PURPLE and leaning BLUE.
The same thing will happen to Idaho, AZ, NV, UT as more California people move into their states.
Itr is “worth” whatever someone will pay.
I remember growing up in OC in the 60s and early 70s. Those were the glory days w Disneyland, Knottsberyy Farm, beaches, and decent weather.
High taxes and the state and cities restricting building of homes and now reducing the number of lanes for existing roads plus all the bums living on the sidewalks.
Me as well, still here behind what we called the “Orange Curtain”. For the first time in my life our district is represented by a Democrat.
Yes, they are, but the bulk of native born blue state refugees are right voting conservatives.
I brought six conservative votes to Texas when I moved my family from California in 2005. That has been duplicated thousands of times since I arrived.
It's coming. The left will not allow peaceful reconciliation or coexistence between us.
