Brexit has provided the militant Irish nationalist group that admitted killing journalist Lyra McKee with a chance to further its campaign against British rule in Northern Ireland, the Sunday Times quoted its leadership as saying.
The New IRA, one of a small number of groups that opposes Northern Irelands 1998 peace deal, has said one of its members shot the 29-year-old reporter dead in Londonderry last week when opening fire on police during a riot McKee was watching.
The killing, which followed a large car bomb in Londonderry in January that police also blamed on the New IRA, has raised fears that small marginalised militant groups are exploiting a political vacuum in the province and tensions caused by Britains decision to leave the European Union.

Heh, given that Reuters is so far left it considers Occasional Cortex to be a Trump sister, I KNEW that it would support the side of Brexit that was the most corrupt.
Yup, they don’t like Brexit.
Go figure.
Journalism. When you just can’t figure out anything requiring real thought, but want to write about it anyway.
I sure hope this isn’t return of open warfare. Had not seen riots and all were underway to rid Ireland of its occupiers. It is about time that the island is liberated from the British. Maybe the queen could do this one last public service before dying or abdicating her inbred family’s disastrous monarchy.
The IRA has never needed an excuse to murder (like another bunch of terrorists...)
In killing a left-wing journalist, one would have thought the IRA had scored an “own-goal”, but the media and politicians are wringing their hands, as usual, and turning
reality upside-down.
Everybody claims that governments must honour the Good Friday Agreement and musn’t let BREXIT cause a return to a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, yet the IRA seem at liberty to break that agreement whenever it pleases them!
If the British government had any resolve they would say, “the IRA has broken the Agreement, so it’s back to a hard border, and bring on BREXIT.”
