"Pope Francis sending money to Mexican congregations to help migrants"

I don’t know what Pope Frances’ salary / allowance is, but I think the referenced money probably came from Roman Catholics who tithe.

Correction’s insights welcome.

Peter’s Pence is a separate annual fund drive (called by Catholics a ‘special collection’) specifically for victims of war, oppression, famine, etc, world wide. The pope decides on the distribution.

Catholics do not tithe.

I personally would like to know what percent of the income of Vatican City comes from "Peter's Pence" (the donations Pope Francis is dipping into to make this farce of a donation) and how much comes from profits from Vatican-owned, income-producing real estate in Italy and elsewhere.

Exactly. Catholics paid him to do this. All Catholics who give to the Catholic church.

Do we have any here?

“At present, this collection is taken each year on the Sunday closest to 29 June, the Solemnity of the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul in the liturgical calendar. As of 2012, the United States has donated the largest amounts, giving some 28% of the total, followed by Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, Brazil and South Korea. US donations totaled $75.8 million in 2008, $82,529,417 in 2009, $67,704,416.41 in 2010 and $69,711,722.76 in 2011.[18]”

It does seem to be a special collection and possibly not the normal collection on that day.
