ELCA is one of the most mush headed denominations in America when it comes to PC and virtue signaling. I'm ashamed to admit I once attended their services. Then I converted to Christianity.

They would have lost even more members except for the social and historical bonds between ELCA denominations in the upper Midwest-- Minnesota, Iowa, the Dakotas and Wisconsin.

Jamaica was once the center of piracy for the Caribbean Sea. Then the Brits decided to base a fleet and an Admiralty court in Kingston. The practice died out and the island grew wealthy after about 20 years of trials and hangings.

It is high time the world tried the same thing in Somalia. Move the UN headquarters there and make it a refugee resettlement destination.

That's not an impression, that's a fact.

They WERE one of the wealthiest colonies in the British Empire back when the Brits were in charge. Ditto for Haiti and the French Empire when the French were in charge.

What you suggest has a real life example in Liberia. It was a (relatively, by African standards) a wealthy functional independent county from the time it was settled by freed American slaves in the 1850s until it decided to revert to traditional tribalism some 120 years later.
