Democrats are pressing forward with their investigations into President Trump's personal finances well beyond the boundaries of the special counsel probe.
Robert Mueller's investigation focused on questions of collusion in the 2016 election and potential obstruction of justice. But Democratic Reps. Maxine Waters and Adam Schiff of California, who chair the House Financial Services and Intelligence committees, respectively, are taking a deeper look at Trump's business empire, including potential dealings with Russian nationals, for any evidence of financial crimes.
Trump’s attorneys have sought to prevent House Democratic investigators from obtaining his financial records. And Republican lawmakers have dismissed the probe as a partisan fishing expedition to undermine the president.

Anyone familiar with the law regarding this? Where the hell do they get off bypassing the IRS when it comes to investigating tax returns? Is Trump under investigation by the IRS? No. Has anyone from the IRS suggested his tax returns may be problematic? NO! So on what legal basis can they do this?? WHERE the hell are the REPUBLICANS??? WHY is this being tolerated AGAIN? WHY are they sitting back while Democrats AGAIN get ready for creating a whole new hoax??

I think they have 30 vulnerable House members who may not participate once their constituents let them know Trump’s financial history isn’t of any import to them.
I think they can get the NYS returns, maybe. So what? Nobody cares and it just cements their position as national jokes while real investigations continue into various prog leaders and lieutenants.
The calculation may be that the proggies should be very careful what they wish for and what precedents they are setting.
Absolutely, they are playing with fire here the way I see it. I heard billionaires are routinely audited so I highly doubt Trump has any kind of history or doing any kind of major shenanigans when it comes to his taxes or financial dealings, you don’t run a business for close to 50 years if he was and all the democrats are doing is setting themselves up for yet another nothing burger while they tick off even more people. The voters are sick to death of this crap as it is. They do NOTHING else but attack Trump day in day out. They do nothing for the country nor the people that elected them, they’re like Ahab in Moby dick, obsessed beyond all reason and hopefully it destroys them.
This is a DemonCRAP political stunt to shift the focus away from the workings of the Clinton Foundation, which does need serious investigation. What is more illegal than a pay-for-play RICO operation? Republicans must keep the focus on the Clinton-Obama criminal activities that were hidden on Hillary’s rougue server. Even with the contents destroyed, there are other ways to dig to the bottom of what the Foundation was doing. It will take the investigation straight to Clinton and Obama. Watch them try to sneak out of the country as things heat up.
