As far as I’m concerned we lost with the election of R M Nixon in 1969 who began the whole social justice thing with his Quixotic quest for Alaskan Aboriginal rights, giving us the Boldt Decision leading to
WASHINGTON v. FISHING VESSEL ASSN., 443 U.S. 658 (1979) which affirmed Treaty Tribes as having superior rights over all others (you reading this), which lead to the wholesale tribal slaughter of fish and game animals, and finally to (formerly illegal) casinos owned nominally by the Tribes but financed by Indonesians muslims to take your money and line their pockets.
