Buttigieg is smart enough to softpedal identity politics and let his sexual orientation speak for itself. But he has nothing more to offer than any other run o’ the mill lefty. He will seek to appear as a “moderate.”

It may work for awhile, but sooner or later, the novelty will wear off, and if he lasts long enough, he will come up against his Waterloo from Trump Tower.
