So, according to liberals it is hateful to separate an illegal migrant child from the people (who may not be their parents) who transported them dangerously across a border, but it is great to separate a citizen’s child from their parents at the drop of a hat.

The Republicans, generally, are very poor at communication.

There is no way this should be as big a narrative as it is since the detention centers had been around for years prior to Trump taking office.

Part of the problem, of course, is that (R)'s don't control hollywood, the vast majority of media or the schools.

A story the media first started spreading using photos taken in 2014, long before President Trump took office (and during the Obama administration). Of course that isn't mentioned in their fake news stories since they are the ones that created that fake story to begin with.
