VOTERS: ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, THE DEMOCRATS ARE NUTS
Powerline ^ | April 7,2019 | John Hinderaker

Posted on 04/07/2019 6:28:06 PM PDT by Hojczyk

Do you think illegal immigration is a serious problem? If you are like 67 percent of likely voters, you do. If you think illegal immigration is a very serious problem, you have plenty of company–47 percent of voters.

Of course, if you are running for president as a Democrat, you don’t think illegal immigration is a problem at all. Eight percent of likely voters agree with you. Not only do none of the Democratic presidential candidates want to build the wall, some of them want to tear down barriers where they already exist. Open borders! Come one, come all!

How can the Democrats be so out of touch with voters on what most regard as a very important issue? I don’t know. Illegal immigration is different, too, from issues like reparations and the Green New Deal, which politicians will talk about during the Democratic primaries and then quietly forget about. They are serious when it comes to promoting illegal immigration.

Which is one of several reasons why I don’t think any Democrat now in the race, or likely to enter the race, can beat President Trump next year

Legal immigrants HATE illegals...the GOP cannot figure this out

Trump will get a lot of votes if this is front and center for 2020

And he gets the illegal immigration down and starts exporting a few million..

I think IKE got rid of six million

[illegal aliens] == [Democrat voters]

Pretty simple equation, sums up everything.

Republicans like being in the minority. They rake in lots of campaign cash promising things they know they won’t have to deliver, and turn the campaign money to maintaining their lifestyle.

Bush League Republicans have been pushing the same nutty policies like amnesty.

Bush League Republicans MUST be replaced with people who side with the citizens and the rule of law.

This is a horribly written self-contradictory article. I think I know what the author is trying to say, but what he actually says makes no sense whatever. I can easily conclude, based upon his confusing statements about polling results, that the Democrats are on the winning side of the argument.

It’s really atrocious writing and Hinderaker ought to be embarrassed.

Ike..."Adios, amigos." That was back when the country still had WW II gonads and spine and before our little petunias invented "safe spaces."

The article is only four paragraphs long, is completely coherent and self-consistent, and makes the case that Trump will get re-elected on the illegal immigration issue.

What, exactly, do you see there that is self-contradictory? I don’t see anything.

Hinderaker is a good conservative thinker and a clear writer.

Republicans like being in the minority.

Republicans like being in office. They will do anything, screw anybody, including their constituents, including their countrymen, to keep their privileges.

You are right, it is easier to cling to their jobs while cowering in the minority.

Hinderaker is a good conservative thinker and a clear writer.

No good writer would write this:

Do you think illegal immigration is a serious problem? If you are like 67 percent of likely voters, you do. If you think illegal immigration is a very serious problem, you have plenty of company–47 percent of voters.

So, what is it? 67% which is a dead cert winner, or only 47% which is, meh! - now you are competing for their attention with 27 other issues. Make it complicated and confusing, keep mentioning that racist Trump and people will move on.

It's like saying 54.35% of voters think the country is on the wrong track. Does that mean pro Trump voters who can't abide what RINOs and democrats are doing or anti-Trump voters who can't abide what Trump is doing or some split between them?

“How can the Democrats be so out of touch with voters on what most regard as a very important issue?“

They’re not out of touch. They simply don’t give one single f*** what the voters think. They hate the voters. They especially hate the voters who voted against them.

Face it. They hate you.

Most candidates come to Washington after being elected, and they are now in the best job they have ever had. They immediately see $$$. Screw the country, they just see the gravy train.

It is very clear. His thesis is that:
1) Most likely voters think illegal immigration is a serious problem.
2) Most, if not all, Democrat candidates want the borders flung wide open.
3) The Dem candidates simply will not, cannot touch the illegal issue in the campaign.
4) Therefore, Trump will win.

See, nice and easy to understand.
