Kris Kobach will not be confirmed.

He is too controversial.

Romney, Paul, Moran etc. will not vote to confirm him.

But can Kobach go in as acting until a new one is confirmed? If not, would be funny if Trump brought Zinke back to be acting.

Ultimately, I think it's going to come down to tracing back Chinese $ influence. Who bought the US government, who's behind the southern invasion, why can't Trump effect any rationale national security initiative?

In comparison to the Germans, Japanese and Russians, the Chinese observed that a frontal, industrial war vs the USA was both foolish and failure prone. It is so much easier - and orders of magnitude more effective - to corrupt the body politic over the course of multiple generations. The Chinese are patient - a 5,0000 year old civilization that categorically rejects multi-cultural influence, gender politics and other grievance angles.

But do they finance, support, employ and advance these self-same destructive policies towards their adversaries? Plot out just a few more decades, when the collective IQ of the "new" USA becomes equal to the place where all the new citizens came from. How does one maintain a global military footprint, control key resources (oil), and dictate policy behind the strength of the reserve currency, in a competitive technology arms race against the Chinese?

Answer: you don't, which has been the intention all along.
