Exactly. Not the same exact concept, but partially along the same lines - each primary was its own distinct entity for the appointment of delegates - popular vote was irrelevant and you get it from the combining of unrelated states from unrelated elections - yet if the Democrats are going to be consistent, they need to be asked if Obama was an “illegitimate nominee” because he “lost the popular vote” for the Dem nomination.
Also the Prime Ministers of Canada, the UK, Australia, etc. are chosen by the majority party that win the most seats in their parliaments elected in individual districts - are they also not “legitimate” if the irrelevant statistic of combining the votes in completely separate elections shows they didn’t win a “national popular vote”? It’s absurd.
I live in CA. and I can tell you the absolute LAST thing on earth that I want is CA. picking our POTUS, OMG what a nightmare that would be, I mean our governors have been so wonderful!! I cant believe that Regan was ever our governor THAT was the last good governor of this state SO Ca. electing the POTUS, HELL NO!!!!
