I take back my Duh. Taking the name off did not remove the comment number being replied to.

I hadn’t noticed that before, much less tried it before, but try this:

Click ‘Post Reply”, then edit out the % and the C and the number that follows it in the URL, write your comment, then click ‘Preview’ and’Reply’ as normal.
