ERIC HOLDER CLARIFIES
Powerline ^ | 28 Mar 2019 | John Hinderaker

President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan put liberals in a bind. They didn’t know whether to respond by saying, “America is greater than ever”–after all, Barack Obama had been president for the last eight years–or by saying what they really thought, “America has never been great.” Mostly they just fumed.

Yesterday on MSNBC, President Obama’s self-described “wing man,” Eric Holder, came out of the closet:

host Ari Melber had asked him: “There is a lot of talk about America being a leader as a democracy, quote unquote, in the 1800s when women and African-Americans couldn’t vote. What kind of democracy is that?”

Holder, unprovoked, then used his answer to tear into Trump’s campaign rally cry.

“That’s exactly right. And that’s what I hear these things about ‘let’s make America great again’ and I think to myself, ‘exactly when did you think America was great’?” he said on the show.

I can’t help noticing, though, that America has been pretty great to Eric Holder. He attended Columbia University (where he was a student radical), no doubt on scholarship, as well as Columbia Law School. He has spent much of his career working for the U.S. government, first in the Department of Justice, then as a judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, next United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and then Deputy Attorney General under Bill Clinton.

He then left the government for a while to work at Covington & Burling, perhaps Washington’s top law firm. No doubt he joined the firm as a partner and was able to forgo the long years working his way up as an associate that most partners have to put in.

The SOB should be in jail.

These people are a bunch of idiots, regardless of their Ivy League degrees. Women couldn't vote in any of the Western democracies until the 20th Century. Britain and France abolished slavery before the US, but not that many years before.

Clearly, these left wing crazies just don't think the principles of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution are "great." Now, when it comes to the Communist Manifesto . . .

Holder’s opinions on law or anything else are slightly more important than the opinion of the mold on my grandparent’s old Louisiana home.

Good to hear from Osama Obama’s “wing man” again. IIRC I've heard Joe DiGenova say that Holder is one of a number of people who should be lining up a good criminal lawyer.

As to when America was ever great, it clearly was not during the time Obama and Holder were in office.

Is there great ignorance concerning some of our most outstanding former Black American leaders, or is it just deliberate revision of history expressed by the current generation of political spokesmen such as Holder who wish to "change" America's real history as into what fits their Progressive ideological narrative?

For example, The following is an excerpt from the "Centennial Thanksgiving Sermon" (1886) (celebrating America's 100th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence) by Black Ohio Legislator and A.M.E. Bishop Benjamin W. Arnett on "The Greatness of America."

- Note that this Sermon is delivered only a few years after the end of the Civil War by this outstanding scholar/legislator/Bishop of the A.M.E. Church.

"Let us see what it is that makes us so great; wherein lies our strength. What has made us one of the greatest powers of the earth, politically and intellectually? Have we come to the conclusion that it is Righteousness that exalteth a nation? We have met to-day at the request of the President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant, and also the Governor of our beloved State, Rutherford B. Hayes. For what? Why call us from our homes? Why come to the house of God? Why not go to the hall of mirth and to the places of amusement to-day? No that is not what they want us to do. We are commanded to go to our 'several places of worship, and there offer up thanks to Kind Providence which has brought our nation through the scenes of another year, and blessed the land with peace, plenty and prosperity.' Then as Americans we have reason to rejoice and congratulate ourselves on the greatness of our beloved country; at this the close of the first hundred years of experimental government of the people, by the people, and for the people. To be a citizen of this vast country is something, and to share in its privileges and duties is more than something." - Dr. Benjamin W. Arnett, 1876 "Centennial Thanksgiving Sermon" - Library of Congress - African-American Section
If current generations of youth in America go to the LOC web site and read this lengthy Address by a remarkable Black scholar of history, Ohio State Legislator, and A.M.E. Bishop, who had lived through the years surrounding the Civil War, then their perspective might be enhanced, enlarged and encouraged by their pride in such an intellectual giant from America's history.

Why don’t you just get the hell out of America then, Eric? America doesn’t need bastards like you hanging around.

Holder is going to get his due. When Trump said this isn’t an ordinary presidential election, he meant it.

However, to be perpetually obsessed with the bad things that this country has done shows you to be a bitter person. Keeping minorities bitter and angry works well for the Democrats because minorities being bitter all of the time keeps them captive and on the Democrat plantation.

African Americans have fared less well in recent years and since the 60s. The African American community have lost their souls and need to reclaim them. Soul meaning family and community. And very little that Democrats have done and have offered has help them.

If Holder were honest (I know that is a fantasy thought) he would have stated that the US is a constitutional republic and that the MSNBC person is ignoring that the US of 2019 is not the US of the 18th century with slavery totally outlawed and both groups having the vote. Thus American is great, would the MSNBC person wish those changes had not happened?
